It is not the intent of Oregon Paranormal Investigations to cover all the basis of
recording and analyzing EVP’s but rather to provide a very brief overview of a large and
debated subject.

When analyzing EVP’s( Electronic Voice Phenomenon) we find a number of important
observations to keep in mind.  As silly as it might seem, first and foremost is to make
sure that the voice heard on the recording is not that of a fellow investigator or another
flesh bound soul within recording distance. If the investigation team is properly
organized and plans ahead it becomes much easier to reduce voice contamination.

Secondly, and in the simplest of terms. The human brain strives to make sense of all that
it sees and hears. It is a master of trying to apply the missing piece of the puzzle when
the piece or pieces are missing. Unfortunately, in the mind’s  attempt to relate and
understand what it is experiencing it sometimes compensates by stretching distorted
words or sounds into that which we can more easily understand.
Also, we should never rule out the possibility of the overzealous investigator, the
untrained observer or just plain fraud.

EVP’s are generally categorized in 3 different classes. Class A, B and C.  Beginning with
Class A. When listened to by different individuals will usually be agreed upon by all as
hearing the same word or words.  Class B, might be somewhat distorted and maybe
agreed upon by some but not by all that listen to them.  Class C, are usually hard to hear
and may not be recognizable by the investigator responsible for the recording or by
others that attempt to discern what is being said from the audio recording.

Serious paranormal investigators utilize specialized software to analyze many different
aspects of voice and sound. Proper use of the analyzing software  can more readily
determine whether the voice and or sounds recorded might be of paranormal nature.
Many times you may not hear the voice and or sounds until the audio recording is
played back and cleaned up.

As mention above, our brief introduction page to EVP’s merely touches upon the
complexity, history, techniques and debatable areas of Electronic Voice Phenomenon.

The EVP’s which we have include on this page represent a few of what we consider to be
true EVP’s. Though our investigators cannot always agree up upon what is being said they
do agree that the voice or voices should not be present.

The choice is yours as to whether to believe or not in the Electronic Voice Phenomenal
process but as always we welcome your comments, questions and inquires.
