Hotel Provincial, is located in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The site has several building plots
and it is said that many locals, guest, and hotel staff say that plot/building # 5, it's the most haunted.
The plot upon which building 500 is situated on has served as a military hospital, boarding house,
and coffee house. It is said that # 500 building site was once a Confederate hospital. It is rumored
that Confederate soldiers and doctors alike have been seen wandering the corridors. Moans, groans,
and voices are said to be heard throughout the complex of buildings.
It is also stated that many guest "say they have walked into their room and seen many bloody
soldiers lying, moaning in pain, and then disappearing as the lights come on". There's even an alleged
report that once, "as the elevator door opened onto the second floor, the entire hospital was in view".
None of these reports or statements could be validated except the statement below made by the
*bellhop employed by the Hotel Provincial
Our observations and experiences: We stayed in building #5. Investigators took base readings and
follow-up measurements during our two night stay. We operated the elevator to the second floor
many times, hoping the elevator door would open and we would witness ‘the entire Confederate
hospital in view’ as alleged in a previous undocumented report.
*We also spoke with the bellhop whom stated that he had been employed with the hotel 10 plus
years and had never witnessed or heard anything that would imply that the hotel is haunted. In
addition, he also stated that he thought if anything, it was more for business then for real.
Conclusion: We captured nothing unusual on video or audio nor registered on other measuring
instruments. We experienced nothing that implied any paranormal activity during our two night
stay.
