Virginia City, Nevada Cemetery
Background: The Virginia City cemetery consist of 11 different cemeteries dating back as early as 1860. The Virginia
City cemetery is divided up with the particular religious beliefs such as the Masonic, Catholics and others all having
their particular grounds in the overall layout of cemeteries.
Preparation: After settling in the Silver Queen Hotel, we prepared for the evening’s investigation at the cemetery.
We choose to start our investigation near midnight in hopes of coinciding with what is considered to be the
beginning of the peak time for paranormal activity (*Note 1).
The OPI team had high confidence that if something was caught on audio or video it would not be human induced
since the OPI-Team had complete access to this cemetery site with no outside interference.
We made our way throughout the entire Virginia City cemetery taking pictures, video recording, audio recording and
utilizing other electronic measuring instruments. Upon completion of our investigation at the Virginia City
cemetery, we returned to the Silver Queen Hotel to prepare for the remaining night’s investigation.
Conclusion: OPI team did not capture any video or photos of a paranormal nature. We did at times encounter high
winds that made some of our audio recordings unusable and played havoc with our cameras and video recording
inducing false orbs and lights.
The OPI team did capture one EVP during our audio recording and when winds were calm. A one word response is
heard several seconds after a investigator’s question and right before the investigator asked “ why do I frighten you”.
Though we are not a ‘impression’ driven investigation team there are times when our investigators will sense
something that is not quite right or is out of place.
OPI will never will base a investigation report upon possible ‘impressions’. OPI takes the stance that when dealing
with the public we must be able to produce solid, physical evidence, free of ‘impressions’.
*Note 1- Paranormal activity can occur at anytime of the day or night but it is believed that paranormal activity is
more prevalent during the hours of 12am-5am.
