Springfield, Oregon
Springfield: In 1849 Elias Briggs and his wife Mary took the southern route from Kentucky to the
Pacific Northwest and built their home near a babbling spring after claiming 640 acres as a donation
from the government for immigrating to Oregon.
Elias Briggs began to develop the town around this babbling spring in a field near his homestead which
is now known as Springfield.
Client Concerns: Family reports moving into the house in 2006. Clients make the following statements.
“At first all was well but as time has gone on we have all experienced something unusual at some point.
Whatever is in this house is evil...not all entities, just one or two.
I started doing research to find someone to help us last Friday and the activity has increased tenfold.
We have been reduced to sleeping with a light on because of shadows and things that go bump in the
night. Prayer does not work as well as it did before. We need to be able to sleep but the focal point
seems to be an area off of our closet. We do not use the area and I get physically sick going near the
door to get my clothing. I am now experiencing severe vertigo and nausea that seems to get better when
I am not at home. The rest of the family rarely comes upstairs. They used to come up to hang out but it
is too scary. I am hoping you can help us to resolve this. We do live in an old neighborhood and some
stuff happened in the house before we ever rented it. The house is 70-80 years old”.
During the course of the telephone interview client additionally reports bad smells, cold spots, and
seeing a dark figure. Some lights work then not work, items disappearing, odd dreams, and knock on
walls.
Observations and Experiences: OPI investigated and attempted to debunk claims of the reported,
unusual activity. Client states that the wiring was updated several years ago and upon OPI’s
examination appears to be within electrical code.
All environmental factors were addressed and revealed no abnormalities except for high EMF readings.
The highest readings were recorded in the bedroom where client reports most of the experiences. It is
interesting to note that high EMF readings have mimicked paranormal experiences and clients could be
hypersensitive to the current EMF levels.
