Portland, Oregon- Oregon Paranormal Investigations received a request from residents located in NW
Portland.
Client states the following: I moved into my home a little over a year ago. The overall uneasiness is what
I first experienced. Then an object that was on my kitchen table that I have owned for years has simply
disappeared. Several months later my landlord and I were standing down stairs and I was expecting my
daughter and grandchildren to come over. While we were standing down stairs we both heard a door
slam and footsteps directly above us.
We both went up there and no one was there. Several weeks, maybe even months had gone by and a
friend came over with her digital camera. My son was here too. They both took several pictures and on
both cameras there are several orbs. In the living room the orbs were different sizes and a deep blue with
purple in the middle and yellow and orange on the top.
Then not to many weeks after that my son was asleep in his bed downstairs. About 4:30am he woke up to
a vibrating feeling on his hip. He thought it was his cell phone but he opened his eyes and realized it was
on his dresser next to the bed and as he was reaching over to get it he saw a full body apparition of a girl
about 15 years old with an older style dress and shoulder length hair.
Then last night at 2:11 am he was at my bedroom door asking me if I was OK. I said yes, are you OK? He
said, didn't you hear that loud bang? And I said no.
Observations and Experiences: During the course of the investigation, OPI witnessed a small
light, about the size of a penlight, free floating, coming from one of the rooms with reported
activity. Though the light appeared briefly it was seen by both investigators located in the
basement area. There are no windows or other light sources that could account for this
unexplained light. While OPI cannot say that the light are paranormal in nature we have no
current explanation for them.
In addition, OPI did capture one unidentifiable voice during the course of the investigation. In
analyzing the voice patterns, and the frequency range, we ruled out that the voice originates
from a living human. OPI does not believe it to be from an earthbound entity or any other type
of intelligent entity but from a residual source.
Usually during EVP sessions an intelligent entity will reveal itself knowing or unknowingly by
either asking for help, telling us to leave, making a verbal comment or some other form of
communication that responds to our questions or presence. When an entity responds in such
manner it is considered to be a conscious and intelligent entity. This was not the case with our
recorded audio clip but does reinforce the reported type of activity as experienced by the clients
which OPI believes to be residual in nature. OPI also concludes that it is possible that in addition
to the residual energy that an intelligent entity might have been present but no physical
evidence was captured.
Residual energy differs greatly from an ‘Intelligent Haunting’. Residual haunting is much like the
playing of a video or audio tape. Just like the recorded images from a video it does not and
cannot interact or intelligently communicate. Residual haunting are mere shadows of past
emotions and events. They are imprinted on the location’s structure or the location’s
environment.
OPI made several recommendations to the client but based upon clients feedback whatever was
in the house was no longer there after the investigation.
