Corbett, Oregon
History of the city of Corbett. This community located on the Historic Columbia River Highway between
Sandy River and Crown Point was named for Senator Henry Winslow Corbett, one of Oregon’s prominent
pioneer citizens. In 1885, Mr. Corbett purchased a nearby farm from Ervine J. Taylor, who had moved down
to the Columbia River about the time the railroad was built in 1882.
For many years there was a station named Corbett on the Union Pacific Railroad at the base of the bluff
below the community.
OPI received a request from client residing in the Corbett area, expressing concerns of possible paranormal
activity.
Client states the following: I live in my parent’s old house in Corbett, Oregon. My friends moved in, and even
though I've only had a weird feeling at the house before, now stuff is happening and I don’t know what to do.
My room has the most activity. I feel like I’m being watched when I’m trying to sleep. I feel pressure on my bed
too. Lately I've been sleeping downstairs with my roommate which is the bedroom below mine, and the last
few nights we have hear stomping, music, a lady talking and weird noises in my room when no one is up there.
I am scared of my own room and I want to know what’s going on. You’ll hear loud bangs, lights turn off.
Scratching sounds. We heard a growl in one corner of the room. Also when you are having a conversation you
can sometimes hear what sounds like men mimicking us.
Me and my boyfriend were laying sleeping and at 2:50am my mirror fell off my wall, making a bang which
woke us up. Than we looked over and my mirror picked up off the ground and slammed down, making glass
go all over.
Observations and experiences: During the course of the investigation OPI recorded five instances of
Disembodied "voices”. The EVP’s with voices of both male and female. Responses as “we”, “here”, “my best
friend”, ”watch me” and what sounds like a female voice with a accent saying “What”.
Both investigators report personal experiences with one investigator reporting what appeared to be of
someone sitting down beside him on the bed. Attempts were made to duplicate the bed movement but to no
avail.
The other investigator witnessed an apparition sitting in a chair located in the room that had been reported to
be the most active part of the house. The apparition appeared to be sitting and leaning slightly toward the
doorway as to be peering down the hallway toward the living room where investigator #1 was located and in
sight.
Conclusion: Experiences at this location as reported by clients were largely confirmed by OPI.
Recommendations made to clients were based and remain confidential per clients agenda.
