Portland, Oregon
Portland, Oregon: The investigation location was built in the early 1900’s and used mainly for a Masonic lodge. This
building changed ownership several times, used as a retail establishment in the 70’s and currently converted to a meeting hall
and an entertainment center. Due to confidentiality requirements OPI will limit our location and proprietor details to protect
client’s location.
Background: OPI received a request from client expressing concerns of reported activity and questions of photos that
captured possible paranormal images at a Portland, Oregon location. (The below pictures labeled as Picture 1 & 2 are client
submitted.)
Client states the following: “I am the recently appointed general manager of a” local establishment, “located in Portland,
Oregon. Since I have taken over the building I spend many hours a day and night at” this location. “Several of my employees
have been startled in seeing and or feeling the presence of several two different apparitions. One being a woman on the 2nd
floor. This woman is claimed to have been seen by several of my employees without prior knowledge of the other employees
seeing her. I have some pictures with what appears to be a person in them that was not present with us when taken the photos
of the ballroom. I also have several people who have claimed to see a man on the 3rd floor. It is my understanding that the
building is an old Masonic temple built in the early 1900’s. I am wondering if you have any interest in helping me with my
curiosity. I have no experience in these matters and would like to know if these are real or just us being humans”.
Observations and Experiences: EMF measurements were taken throughout the location and high EMF baselines were noted
in the commercial kitchen area as expected. Information presented to OPI concerning this particular spot of interest was
submitted by email from employees. OPI did not have the opportunity to speak directly to the employees that made claims of
activity in this area.
As a note of interest, some people have electrical hypersensitivity (EHS), to EM fields. EM fields have been known to mimic
paranormal experiences such as uneasy feelings, feelings of be watched, headaches, anxiety, and hallucinations. Without
speaking directly to the employees that reported the experiences, it remains difficult for OPI to state that this is the case with
the reported experiences in the kitchen area.
We do believe that some of the voices reported by the client and employees are from outside sources such as open windows,
allowing the many street sounds to travel into some areas of this location.
OPI did receive several pictures from the client for review. Several of the pictures contained images of an unidentified figure.
Client states that when the pictures were taken, only the photographer and two more employees were present. Client also
states that the pictures in question were taken in a controlled environment.
While not to discredit client statements, OPI conducted a very thorough examination of the pictures in question and
attempted to reproduce the effects in question at the location site. OPI believes that the shadow object in the pictures are a
result of the combination of several natural and explainable causes and not of paranormal origin. Client has not questioned
OPI's conclusions.
While OPI has no video or photographic evidence from this location except as noted photos provide by client, OPI did record
several EVP’s at this location that we do believe to authentic. OPI’s approach to attempting to record EVP’s is an extremely
redundant and time consuming process. Our approach and techniques are as OPI believes to be extremely accurate making OPI
one of the best EVP analyses on the Pacific west coast. Our overall approach into investigations is the reason our client’s report
is information that originates from solid data and can be trusted.
OPI's recorded EVP’s at this location include, a man's voice, and several words, almost like “release me or miss me”.
Also in attempting to contact the reported apparition of a young girl one of our investigators posed the question to the alleged
young girl if she would be willing to have her picture taken. On cue, one investigator heard a reply “NO”. The reply was also
recorded on audio as well. Several other unusual experiences were also reported by our investigators.
It is very easy to attempt to connect what is reported to be photograph of a possible apparition and then also have captured
several EVP’s at this location. Seemly, one could jump to the conclusion that they are related since one seems to support the
other. In this case, the photograph and recorded EVP are not related or connected in anyway except merely by submission as
possible evidence. Each piece of evidence collected in an investigation must stand on its merit before being integrated into the
paranormal puzzle.

Picture 3: What some might claim to be an entity is really nothing more than one of OPI's investigators crossing
paths with a delayed camera shutter. The light oddities are not in anyway paranormal as some would claim.
